Azure Platform Engineer

At TAUW you will not only work on modern Azure platform development, but you will also ensure that the platform remains stable, secure and highly available for the DevOps teams that rely on it every day.

TAUW operates fully on Microsoft Azure. Our DevOps teams own their applications end-to-end, from idea to deployment. IT Operations is evolving towards a platform-driven approach, focused on standardisation, automation and self-service. As an Azure Platform Engineer, you combine operational responsibility with innovation and translate operational insights into structural platform improvements.

The IT department is based in the Netherlands and collaborates closely across country borders. You will work with a skilled and supportive IT Operations team, where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are key. New Azure capabilities are actively explored and there is plenty of room to take initiative and shape the future of the platform.

Your role

You are responsible for the stability, security and continuity of the Azure platform, while continuously improving and automating it to enable DevOps teams to work efficiently within secure, well-defined standards.

What you will do

Operate and maintain the Azure platform, including monitoring, incident management and change management; evolve the platform by adopting modern Azure services and features; standardise and automate infrastructure and operations using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines; contribute to platform architecture, security and networking decisions; translate monitoring data, alerts and incidents into structural improvements and increased self-service for DevOps teams; manage and improve core Azure components such as Virtual Machines, App Services, Virtual Networks, Application Gateway and Azure Firewall / NSGs; improve identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID and Conditional Access; collaborate with architects, security specialists, application teams and external partners.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

What we are looking for

Bachelor or equivalent working and thinking level and at least 4 years of experience in a cloud or platform engineering role; hands-on experience with Azure and its core services; strong understanding of networking, security and cloud identity; experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or Bicep; affinity with automation and continuous improvement; good communication skills and the ability to work in an international team; good command of English. Dutch is not required.

This is a permanent position. The IT Operations team is based in the Netherlands. For candidates based in Spain, remote working is possible from TAUW locations in Madrid or Barcelona. Occasional travel to the Netherlands can be discussed where needed.
